Just recently I’ve been browsing the SEO related roles over at monster. You never know, Google may start using them to recruit guys like me!

Anyhow, I’ve noticed something alarming amongst the job Specs. A repeated requirement for the “Understanding of three way linking”. You’ll never hear any seasoned SEO/SEM adopting three way linking as a viable model for the long term success of any given site for one simple reason that I’ll detail below.

There seems to be a growing “anti-page rank” trend amongst those that are actively involved in the world of search engine marketing.

I often see and hear statements such as:-

“Forget page rank”
“page rank doesn’t get you rankings”
“page rank doesn’t equal traffic”

Fact. Search engine marketing and SEO work can at times be mind numbing soul destroying work. At times when you’ve worked until the early hours of the morning for little or no immediate benefit to yourself or the sites your working on.

Even at this stage of the internets development I feel that far too many webmasters are searching for a mystical magic formula that they blindly believe will instantly catapult their site to the top of the SERP’s for all of the big profit search terms in their industry.

You may have noted from some of my earlier entries that nothing frustrates me more than people; typically “web designers” claiming to be SEO’s. This really bothers me because invariably the culprits I’m referring to have at best a very basic understanding of what is required to generate traffic and good search rankings.

I thought I’d tackle this monster, i see it crop up time and time again on various webmaster and SEO forums but the question of whether article submission marketing still works never actually seems to be conclusively answered. Yes, we all know that Google’s a lot smarter nowadays implementing filters for just about everything that used to make our jobs easier.
